Soon to have a place of my own - possibly

After more than 5 months of searching for good-enough (because I've given up on great), compromising almost every item on my "must have" list, and suffering serial rejection due to my effrontery in making myself vulnerable.... wow, that's starting to sound like the plot for an episode of Sex in the City... I've - possibly - succeeded in buying a house in southern California.

I say possibily because I have yet to receive a contract signed by the seller, the inspection lies in the nebulous future, and my level of excitement is somewhere close to nil.

Yes, I'll no longer be forced to say "nowhere" when asked where I live, and it will be nice to sleep on a real bed, instead of a partially deflated air mattress. However, the house is very small, in the middle of Simi Valley (no need to expand), the layout is clearly disfunctional, and it will cost almost 1/2 a million dollars. Isn't that crazy?

It sort of makes me want to take my downpayment and go home. Oh wait, I don't have a home, which is why I'm forced to buy this place.

I miss Seattle.
